Jesus Wants the Rose

I came across a snippet from a sermon that was preached by Matt Chandler, who is the Lead Pastor of The Village Church in Flower Mound, TX. In this short clip, he shares a story from his days in college and how this specific episode helped him gain a greater understanding of the Gospel message. Check it out below:

This was such an incredible reminder for me, not only of my personally calling to love and care for the…

Do Something Today

I read a great blog post from Pastor John Ortberg the other day. It was such a great personal reminder of God’s daily calling upon my life, and I wanted to share it with you, because I believe it’s God’s call for each one of us, especially today:

I have come that they might have life, and have it with abundance.” This is one of Jesus’ most famous sayings. It is what we would think of today as a mission statement.

Checking In by Checking Up

We wanted to share a letter we received this past week from our Singles retreat speaker, Pastor Sam Park.

Greetings Binnerri EM from Los Angeles!

It’s been almost two months since my visit to your wonderful community, and yet, so many aspects of that weekend are still vivid in my mind.  Thanks to you, I have been watching more “Minute to Win It” clips on Hulu!  I can’t stop thinking about the BBQ restaurants

Feast Your Eyes on This

This past Sunday I gave a message entitled “Saturate,” at our college gathering on Matthew 6:22-23. Here’s what Jesus says in these verses: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (NIV) Essentially, what these verses…

The Art of Deception

I shared a message at our last Pathway (Singles) Gathering on topic of deception, and the impact it has had on our daily lives. Not a day goes by when we’re not exposed to some sort of deception. In fact, there have been times where we’ve done the deceiving, whether it’s with our coworkers, our supervisors, or even our family members. And if we’re honest with ourselves, most of us would say that we’ve told some white lies here and…

“Lost” Community

This past Tuesday, the popular ABC television series Lost came to an end after 6 years mystery, action, suspense, flash-sideways, and maybe even a little confusion. Now, I’m not a huge fan of the show. I’ve watched episodes here and there throughout each season, but I decided to watch the finale to see how it would end.

And as the final episode came to a close there was one scene, and specifically one conversation, that really caught my attention (don’t…

Upside Down Truth

We showed a short video at the end of the message this past Sunday to illustrate this incredible idea the upside down economy of God; and how He tends to flip things upside down in a way that’s completely contrary to the way we would normally do things. And afterwards, everyone seemed to enjoy and appreciate the video, and primarily they liked it for its “cool” factor. If you missed it here it is:

I admit, when I watched this…

On Being a Full-Time Follower

I was reading a devotional today from My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers on the importance of walking daily with Jesus and not just doing for Him. And after reading today’s entry, I was again reminded that it’s not so much about being a full-time worker, but being a full-time follower of Jesus Christ. His ultimate desire is for me to know and fall deeper in love with Him as I walk with Him on a daily basis.…

Taking the Initiative Against Drudgery

Occasionally, I visit an online devotional page, which is basically daily excerpts from the Christian classic, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. And as I was encouraged by the devotional entry for today, I wanted to share it all of you. My prayer is that this would encourage you this day as well:

When it comes to taking the initiative against drudgery, we have to take the first step as though there were no God. There is no

Celebrate God

January is now behind us and we’re almost halfway through February. And I know it’s cliche, but I have to say, time really does seem to fly by. Football season is officially over, the Saints won their first Super Bowl , and now our attention is towards the other big day in this month – VALENTINES DAY. Now, I’m sure you’ve noticed all the commercials on T.V. and radio, encouraging us (and by this I’m talking primarily…
