Beautiful Brazil

Well, the Brazil has just gotten back safely from the mission trip … Praise God! It was an amazing time in Brazil and we look forward to sharing the stories of the relationships that we built there. But in the meantime, I wanted to share with you what I wrote in their church bulletin to thank them and encourage them.

Beautiful. That’s the one word that keeps coming up in conversations with those who came from America. We see

Checking In by Checking Up

We wanted to share a letter we received this past week from our Singles retreat speaker, Pastor Sam Park.

Greetings Binnerri EM from Los Angeles!

It’s been almost two months since my visit to your wonderful community, and yet, so many aspects of that weekend are still vivid in my mind.  Thanks to you, I have been watching more “Minute to Win It” clips on Hulu!  I can’t stop thinking about the BBQ restaurants

Feast Your Eyes on This

This past Sunday I gave a message entitled “Saturate,” at our college gathering on Matthew 6:22-23. Here’s what Jesus says in these verses: “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (NIV) Essentially, what these verses…

A Prayer of Disturbance

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity

The Art of Deception

I shared a message at our last Pathway (Singles) Gathering on topic of deception, and the impact it has had on our daily lives. Not a day goes by when we’re not exposed to some sort of deception. In fact, there have been times where we’ve done the deceiving, whether it’s with our coworkers, our supervisors, or even our family members. And if we’re honest with ourselves, most of us would say that we’ve told some white lies here and…

In Loving Memory of Josephine “Joey” Ann Lee

As some of you may have heard, one of our congregation members (John Mark and Patty Lee) lost their baby on October 9, 2009 in the mother’s womb when she was only 21 weeks old. We are continually praying for them as they grieve the loss of their child. The amazing thing is that they are using this as an opportunity to make a difference because of the difference that “Joey” has made in their lives. They are asking…

Together We Are One

So, despite the fact that this season’s American Idol was the worst season ever (in my opinion and others), there was a redeeming factor in the season’s finale. It happened to be Simon Cowell’s last night on the show as a judge, and one of the things that they did to thank him for his contribution was for the past season winners (all 9 in order) and other contestants to sing him a song. It was a touching moment

“Lost” Community

This past Tuesday, the popular ABC television series Lost came to an end after 6 years mystery, action, suspense, flash-sideways, and maybe even a little confusion. Now, I’m not a huge fan of the show. I’ve watched episodes here and there throughout each season, but I decided to watch the finale to see how it would end.

And as the final episode came to a close there was one scene, and specifically one conversation, that really caught my attention (don’t…

Free Audiobooks

As we all know, the DFW commute/traffic is not something that we look forward to. DFW is one of the top 10 worst traffic cities in America. But even when the roads are clear, it still takes quite some time to go from point A to point B.

Many of us travel during the week for business, spending numerous hours at airports, in the air, or on the roads.

Or maybe we just can’t find the time to sit

To God Be the Glory

About a month or two ago, we showed a video in service about a guy name Zac Smith, who was a pastor at a church and was battling cancer. It was a great testimony. Today, May 16, 2010, Zac Smith stepped into eternity and went home to be with Jesus. Our prayers go out to his family. May his story leave a legacy for all who follow Jesus.

God is God … God is good … To God be the glory.
